Wow 1 Day Painting, part of the O2E (Ordinary to Exceptional) Brands family, was founded with a mission to revolutionize the traditional painting industry. The brand is known for its unique value proposition: completing painting jobs in just one day, a stark contrast to the multiple days usually required by other painting services. This innovative approach addresses a common customer pain point—the disruption caused by prolonged painting projects—thus setting Wow 1 Day Painting apart from its competitors.

The company's founding dates back to the entrepreneurial ventures of Brian Scudamore, who also founded 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. With a history of transforming ordinary home services into exceptional experiences, Scudamore applied a similar disruptive model to the painting industry with Wow 1 Day Painting. The brand's headquarters are located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, a hub that supports its franchises spread across different regions.

Franchising began as a strategic move to expand the brand's reach and impact. By offering franchise opportunities, Wow 1 Day Painting not only extended its operational footprint but also empowered entrepreneurs to lead their businesses with a proven model. Franchisees are not required to have prior painting experience; instead, they are supported with comprehensive training, recruitment assistance, marketing tools, and a central booking system, emphasizing leadership, customer service, and business management skills.

What sets Wow 1 Day Painting apart is not just the speed of service but the promise of quality and efficiency, redefining customer expectations in the painting sector. This commitment to delivering a 'wow' experience with minimal disruption is the cornerstone of the brand's competitive advantage.

to its

franchisees?

Yes,
Wow 1 Day Painting
provides
training

The franchisor provides various types of training to franchisees, which include:

Initial Training

  • The Principal Operator and other required individuals must complete the franchisor-specified initial training to the franchisor's satisfaction before the Franchised Business opens. The training program's format and content are determined solely by the franchisor. The cost of this initial training is included in the Initial Fee paid by the franchisee.

Employee Training

  • Franchisees may provide initial training to their employees as per the Operations Manual, but the franchisor reserves the right to require employees to attend its training at any time. The franchisor may charge the franchisee a fee for providing this initial or additional training to employees.

Retraining

  • If the franchisee is not operating the Franchised Business in full accordance with the System and the Agreement, the franchisor has the right to send representatives to the Franchised Location to conduct retraining as deemed appropriate. The franchisee is responsible for the franchisor's training fee and must reimburse the franchisor for all out-of-pocket costs associated with the retraining.

Additional Training

  • Franchisees are required to attend, and ensure their Principal Operator, employees, and representatives attend, periodic refresher training, service training, management training, and other training courses as required by the franchisor. The franchisor determines the duration, curriculum, and location of these training sessions, which may be delivered in person or through electronic means such as web training or webinars. The franchisee is responsible for the franchisor's current training fee and must cover all out-of-pocket costs incurred by the franchisor in connection with any additional training provided.

Does

Wow 1 Day Painting

provides

territory

protection?

The franchisor provides a form of territory protection to franchisees, stipulating that as long as the franchisee is in full compliance with the terms and conditions of the Franchise Agreement, the franchisor will refrain from establishing, operating, or granting anyone else a franchise to establish or operate a WOW 1 DAY PAINTING business within the franchisee's designated territory. This territory may be divided into subterritories, for which additional franchise fees are applicable.

However, it's important to note that this grant and license is non-exclusive, which means the franchisee has the right to operate and sell services within their territory but does not prevent the franchisor from selling services outside of the franchisee's territory using the same or different trademarks.

Furthermore, the franchisor reserves certain rights, such as offering services outside the franchisee's territory, operating or granting licenses or franchises for similar businesses outside the territory, and potentially engaging in activities that could compete with the franchisee's business.

Can a

Wow 1 Day Painting

franchise

be run as

a passive

investment?

The franchisor requires the Franchised Business to be under the direct supervision at all times of a Principal Operator who owns at least a minimum beneficial share ownership in the business. The minimum share ownership requirement is generally 20%, although the franchisor reserves the right to require a different amount at its discretion before the Franchise Agreement is signed. The Principal Operator is expected to devote their full time, attention, and effort to the Franchised Business, ensuring active and direct day-to-day supervision of its operations.

Franchisees are responsible for the selection and hiring of all employees of the Franchised Business and must ensure compliance with standards of customer service, production, product quality, cleanliness, environmental safety, occupational health and safety, consistency, staffing, and employee training. This indicates that franchisees are expected to be actively involved in managing and training their staff to maintain the franchisor's standards.

Additionally, the operation of the Franchised Business must be under the direct control of the Principal Operator, and franchisees are expected to operate the business in strict accordance with the franchisor's standards, as prescribed in the Agreement and the Operations Manual. This includes ensuring that the business is actively managed by the Principal Operator, who must provide direct, day-to-day supervision of the operation by the franchisee.
